Whale Fall begins with a machined aluminium column and a sealed glass chamber of magnetic liquid. Play something and the fluid gathers, fractures and rises in response to the signal itself.
Low frequencies pull the liquid into slow tides; higher passages break it into a field of fine spikes. The movement is generated by the music — nothing is pre-programmed, and no two tracks look alike.
Every unit is assembled, tuned and numbered in the studio before it ships.
Reactive by design
The fluid responds to the audio signal directly — tides at the low end, sharp standing spikes in the highs.
A sealed instrument
The magnetic medium sits inside a sealed glass chamber. Nothing to top up, nothing to spill, nothing to tune by hand.
