We make objects that think out loud.
We do not make devices. We make objects that think out loud.
MERIDIAN — founded on the belief that technology can be exhibited, not just used.
Studio study — ferrofluid in low light
A studio between the laboratory and the gallery.
MERIDIAN began with a simple provocation: what if the most interesting part of a speaker was not the sound, but the evidence of it? That question produced our first instrument, and the rest of the collection follows the same logic.
We work in small runs, prototype in the studio, and test until the movement is legible from across a room. Every object is assembled, tuned and numbered by hand before it ships.
The material leads
We begin with behaviour, not surface. Ferrofluid moves; glass holds; aluminium grounds. Every decision follows from what the material wants to do.
Slowness is a feature
Our editions are small and deliberately slow to make. Nothing is produced until the object earns its place in the collection.
No noise, no decoration
We remove until only the essential gesture remains. What is left should be quiet enough to live with for a decade.
Two objects are available. More are in the studio.
